The exercise which is expected to commence in Lagos State between October 11 and 13 will move to Benin, Edo State, where prospective students will be made to undergo rigorous screening between October 15 and 18.
The talent hunt team will beam its search light on Calabar and the exercise will take place between October 20 and 22, while Kaduna will have its turn between October 25 and 27.
Rounding up the exercise, Ilorin, the host city of the academy, will have its turn between October 29 and November 12.
Speaking with Grassroots Sports, chief coach of the academy, Paul Odey, said the exercise will be strict and thorough in order to select talented players that will excel in the academy and help to reposition the sloppy image of Nigeria in world football.
“There are great talents across the country and we have decided to pick our students from the four corners of the country. We do not collect money for the screening and we will not charge any successful students a dime for the training they will receive at the academy.
“The training, both in football and academic, is free and the accommodation, kitting as well as feeding are free. It is the only football academy in Nigeria that gives these types of opportunity for talented Nigerians to harness their potentials,” the coach said.
Odey said the training will be carried out by the coaches and physical trainers of the academy, adding that only candidates that scale through the physical and mental screening will be invited for the second stage of the screening.
In his contribution, the administrator of the academy, Kumbi Ibitoye, described the facilities and equipment available in the football training institution as good enough to produce great footballers for the nation and football clubs, both local and foreign.
