Kwara govt recruits 1,638 for social works

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has ratified the recruitment of 1,638 youths of the state into its social work scheme.
Their orientation, validation and enrolment into payroll took place yesterday during the final ceremony held at the headquarters of Ilorin West Council Secretariat, Ilorin.

The beneficiaries were drawn from across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Addressing the recruits, Governor AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Remilekun Banigbe, charged them to take advantage of the scheme to improve their wellbeing.
The programme codenamed ‘NG-CARES’ is supported by the World Bank in partnership with the Kwara State Government.
Earlier in his welcome address, the technical head of the programme, Alhaji Shamsideen Aregbe, disclosed that the scheme was designed to provide relief for vulnerable people, to mitigate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
