The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has intercepted a diverted and adulterated Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) being transported inside fifty jerry cans along Kosubosu road in Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

The suspected vandals who were transporting the petroleum products in a blue colour Toyota Starlet with registration number AW 473 TYW reportedly ran out of luck when they ran into the NSCDC men on a routine patrol in the area.

The NSCDC spokesman, Zaid Babawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, said the vehicle and products have been impounded and taken into custody.

According to him, “Immediately the suspected oil thieves sighted our men, they took to their heels abandoning the vehicles laden with fifty kegs of petroleum products.

“But the car and the petroleum products have been recovered and taken to the state command’s headquarters in Ilorin”, he added.

He however said officers of the NSCDC have begun a manhunt for the suspected oil thieves while further investigations are ongoing.
