He spoke on the heels of slow pace of distribution of PVCs in the state with over 400, 000 yet to be claimed after two different extensions.
Daily Trust reports that for over two months, the collection rate hovered between 69 and 72 per cent with many PVCs left uncollected.
It would be recalled that a National Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of Kwara, Kogi and Niger, Dr. Chris Ehimoga, was told of how only less than 10 people turned up to collect their PVCs at some local governments in the state.
Speaking on the issue at the weekend, the INEC boss in Kwara State noted that owners of the unclaimed PVCs must have relocated permanently from the state but expressed satisfaction with the percentage so far distributed.
He said, “There are particular local governments where there are tertiary institutions where people, especially students registered in 2011 but they have gone. So, they would never come back here to collect the card.
“And there are cases where politicians went and took Kwara State indigenes to come and register, after registering they themselves cannot look for them now. So, those are the issues but I am comfortable that the total collected so far is 858, 623. The total we have received is about 1, 170, 599.”
He reaffirmed the readiness of the commission for the election, saying training of ad-hoc staff and distribution of non-sensitive materials is in progress.
