Arokoyo spent some years at the Academy before heading for top Premier League side, Kwara United, on the eve of the present campaign.

The youngster has blossomed under the experienced Kadiri Ikhana and has even become one of the goal-scoring defenders in the league.

He debuted for Kwara United during the Super Four and has become a regular in the team’s back-four.

“I can’t forget my time at the academy. That’s my home. We’re like a big family. They really tried to make me a good player and we were made to understand the importance of hard work.

“The presence of different facilities at the academy really helped my career,” Arokoyo told SuperSport.com.

Flying Eagles boss, John Obuh, has equally noticed his defensive qualities.

Arokoyo is one of the players listed in Obuh’s 25-man squad that will travel to Libya for a friendly and camp in Turkey, where the team will undergo more training for the Africa Youth Championship, which begins in March.

“I missed the Super Eagles invitation when I traveled for trials, but I thank God for the opportunity to start from this level,” he said to SuperSport.com.

Aside from Arokoyo, who is close to a deal abroad, other products of the academy have also excelled in the Premier League.

Chinedu Ajanah, Kelvin Kpakor and Barnabas Imenger have also become household names in their first Premier League season after impressive outings for Kwara United, while Aminu Abdulkadiri is one of the reasons why Bukola Babes have been outstanding in the elite class.
