Real Madrid suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Monday night.

The Galacticos were stunned by their neighbours thanks to a first half strike, on a night of all-round poor display from the hosts who suffered a second consecutive league loss in a match both sides had a player sent off in the dying minutes.

Kylian Mbappe was reported injured coming to this encounter, and coach Alvaro Arbeloa handed starts to Gonzalo Garcia in attack, while youngster Thiago Pitarch was also handed a starting berth in midfield.
Vinicius Jr. was Real’s main attacking threat and should have given his team the lead but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper when through on goal.
The visitors tightened their defence afterwards and capitalized on a lucky break in attack, Martin Satriano volleying past Thibaut Courtois into the top corner from the edge of the area to hand Getafe the lead on 39 minutes.
The hosts struggled to break down Getafe in the second period, with Antonio Rudiger sending a header wide, while substitute Rodrygo failed to hit the target from a promising position.
The night went from bad to worse for Real in stoppage time with Franco Mastantuono sent off for abusive language towards referee Alejandro Muniz Ruiz. Getafe also had Adrian Liso dismissed for a second booking, but they held on to win at the Bernabeu for the first time in 18 years.
A second successive league loss has Real Madrid four points behind leader Barcelona, and Arbeloa who has overseen four defeats in 12 matches as the head coach, could see his team fall further behind in the title race when they face Celta Vigo on Friday.
