Labour commends UN support for Amina Mohammed over alleged $300m wood fraud

The Secretary General of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Comrade Ayo Olorunfemi, and a group of concerned  Nigerians, led by Nasiru Zaitun, have applauded the support given by the United Nations (UN) to the former Minister of Environment and its current Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed over allegation of her involvement in illegal timber trade worth $300 million.

Comrade Olorunfemi said it was a “deliberate attempt,” by some corrupt elements in the timber industry to rubbish Nigeria and Amina Mohammed in the international community.

Both Zaitun and Olorunfemi, believe that the support given to Amina is a support to Nigeria and the current administration’s efforts to fight corruption.

“It is a known fact today in the country that when a person is elevated beyond expectations, envious group will always come with theories be it conspiracy or otherwise with a view to pull down their targets.

“That is the case in the Amina’s appointment. This woman performed her various roles with finesse and compliance with the rule of law,” Olorunfemi said.
