The Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) in partnership with Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) are organizing a national workshop on industrial relations practice in the public service.

The workshop, which is scheduled to hold on June 25-27, in Akure, the Ondo State, has as theme ‘Managing the Challenges of Emerging Realities in Labour Management Negotiations in the Federal Civil Service’.

A statement signed by the Director-General/Chief Executive of the institute, Alhaji Ishaq Alabi, said the workshop “will serve as a platform for proactive and routine dialogues, consultations and negotiations as to ensure the sustenance of industrial peace in the public service and by implication, the country at large.

He said the objective of the workshop is ‘to share practical strategies that would develop and sustain a peaceful and harmonious employee–employer relation in Nigeria through the identification of emerging industrial relations issues and challenges.

The target population at the national workshop includes permanent secretaries, directors of administration, establishments, pensions and training, human resources/personnel management in Ministries, Departments and Agencies at federal, state and local levels.

Others are: presidents, secretaries chairmen and other officials of trade unions; officials of National Joint Public Service Negotiating Councils, Industrial Relations Desk Officers, officials of establishments, Staff Welfare and Trade Union Matters at all levels, as well as officials and members of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and other employers’ associations.
