The Labour Party Candidates Forum (LPCF) has commended the Supreme Court and the Federal High Court for their recent judgments clarifying the leadership situation within the Labour Party.

The forum’s chairman and Labour Party’s 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate, Barr. Okeme Adejoh, made the remarks during a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday.

Adejoh described the two judgments — from the Supreme Court on April 4, 2025, and the Federal High Court on August 15, 2025 — as “clear and decisive,” noting that they provide direction for the party’s internal administration.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he termed its commitment to upholding internal party democracy.

Adejoh said the forum supports the process of leadership renewal within the party in line with constitutional and judicial guidelines. He urged members to unite and focus on rebuilding the party ahead of future elections.

“We call on all members to respect the rule of law and work together in preparation for upcoming congresses and the National Convention,” Adejoh stated.

He congratulated those newly appointed to interim leadership roles by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and encouraged them to steer the party towards stability and growth.

In his remarks, the forum’s secretary and 2023 Ebonyi State governorship candidate, Comr. Splendour Oko Eze, emphasized the importance of adhering to judicial pronouncements to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

Eze urged all stakeholders to prioritize peace, unity, and respect for due process in party affairs.

“The rule of law is fundamental to our democracy, and all members must abide by it,” he added.

The LPCF reiterated its commitment to supporting lawful and transparent leadership processes within the Labour Party, in line with constitutional and judicial provisions.
