Labour Party fixes April 28 for convention, unveils committees

The Labour Party has released the list of chairmen and members of its electoral subcommittees to oversee the forthcoming ward, local government and state congresses across the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the Interim National Chairman, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party said the committees were constituted to ensure a credible and transparent process during the congresses scheduled for April 23 to 25, 2026.
The party recalled that ward congresses will hold on Thursday, April 23, followed by local government congresses on Friday, April 24, while state congresses are slated for Saturday, April 25.
According to the statement, the subcommittees comprise “experienced and respected party members” drawn from across the federation to supervise the exercise in their respective states.
The party’s National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, urged members to uphold the party’s core values.
The party also reiterated that its national convention will hold on Tuesday, April 28, in Umuahia, Abia State.
