Non-Academic Staff Union, Federal Polytechnic Offa chapter has refuted a report claiming that they are against the recent screening of applicants into the position of rector of the institution.
The union also said there was no any crisis within the school campus over the same issue and distanced itself  from the claim of Senior Staff Association of Polytechnics (SSANIP) that crisis was brewing up in the school.
Chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnics (NASU), Comrade Alli Emmanuel, denied any knowledge linking him to foment troubles in the Institution.
He said that his union was not in any way against any part of the exercise towards appointing the next substantive rector for the polytechnic, but the appointment should be based on merit.
Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Federal Polytechnic Offa branch and the Student Union Government of the institution seem to be impatient over the delay in the announcement of the new rector of the institution.
Recently, the ASUP, Offa Poly branch led by its chairman, Dr. Sola Ojeniyi during a press conference gave seven days ultimatum to announce the name of a new rector for the institution which ended on Wednesday.
The association noted that the rectorship position which had been vacant since the retirement of the former rector in February this year is generating unnecessary tension in the school. Ojeniyi said the union requested that one of the three recommended applicants from the interview should be announced in the next one week.
“ASUP and overwhelming majority members of the polytechnic give credence to the process of the appointment of a new rector for Federal Poly Offa. So far, three members recommended as a result of the interview conducted on the 21st March , 2016 are our members and they are eminently qualified for the post, they possess relevant experiences in the management of the polytechnic education, understand the terrain of  the institution, tested and found worthy for the appointment.
“There is no crisis at Federal Poly Offa. No one is warming up for or anticipating any crisis over the appointment of rector provided one of the three recommended applicants is appointed. The only condition that can bring crisis is when all our members who have been properly and thoroughly screened, interviewed and recommended are all robbed of the opportunity of serving the institution,” Ojeniyi said.
