A Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has sentenced 18-year-old Gado Adamu to five months in prison for stealing a pregnant she-goat and the unlawful possession of a gun.

Adamu was charged with theft and unlawful possession of a weapon, contrary to Sections 345 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

When the charges were read, Adamu pleaded guilty and appealed to the court for leniency.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Patience Baryat, sentenced Adamu to three months imprisonment for the unlawful possession of a weapon, with an option of a N20,000 fine.

Additionally, the judge sentenced him to two months imprisonment or a fine of N10,000 for the theft of the animal.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Favour Solomon, informed the court that the matter was reported to the Kafanchan Divisional Police Station on February 2.
