General Edi who expressed appreciation with the feat achieved by officers and men of his command added that he will do everything within his power to provide an enabling environment to all sports men and women in his command.

“We never had the best of facilities because it is capital intensive but we have achieved more and I will do everything within my power to motivate all the sports men and women under my command so that they can achieve greater heights,” Edi said.

He added that continuous training which is one of the cardinal points of the Nigerian Army will always rule among officers and men of his command as he expressed hope that some of them will soon represent the country in international events.

General Edi assured that sports facilities like swimming pools, weight lifting gyms and boxing rings of international standards will be provided for the men of his command for them to become world beaters in their various events.

A total of 17 gold, 11 silvers and 31 bronze medals were won by men of the Nigerian Army Headquarters Garrison Command which place them third overall in the competition.
