Lack of qualified teachers, teaching aids and logistics hampers the delivery of quality education in Taraba State, Commissioner for Education, Mr. Jigem Johanes, has said.   

He said the ministry of education, post primary schools management board and all the secondary schools have no vehicle for their activities.

The commissioner, who made this known in Jalingo at a workshop organized by the ministry for stakeholders in education sector, said education officials used their personal vehicles to conduct supervision and monitoring of schools.

“It will shock you to know that the ministry of education, post primary schools management board and all secondary schools in the state do not have any vehicle. We are only managing with our personal vehicles,” the commissioner said

Mr. Johanes said the state lacks ICT teachers; a situation he said was shameful in this computer era.

He said there was the need for employment of more teachers in all public schools as well as provision of teaching materials and laboratory equipment for both science and technical schools.
