Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, has identified lack of trust, fairness and justice as part of factors responsible for the insecurity confronting the nation.

The governor said this yesterday at the opening of a two-day multi-stakeholders’ regional peace building dialogue, for Taraba, Benue and Nasarawa states, held in Lafia, the state capital.

He applauded the organisers of the dialogue for choosing Nasarawa State to host the event, saying that since he assumed office as governor, he has not relented in ensuring lasting peace in the state.

Governor Sule stressed the need for all stakeholders in the three states to join hands in building lasting peace.

Earlier, Barrister Istifanus Haruna, Chief of Staff to the Taraba State governor, said that peace has eluded Taraba, Nasarawa and Benue states with each of them engulfed in crisis for a long period of time.

He commended the efforts by the governments of the three states, targeted at creating synergy towards finding lasting peace in the region.

On his part, Mr. Christian Okafor, a representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), stated that the regional peace conference was organized in conjunction with the West African Network for Peace Building Nigeria to foster peace.
