The Legal Aid Council of Nigeria (LACON) and the Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) have teamed up for a programme on improving access to justice in Nigeria.

The programme, which was termed “Building Capacity of Nigerian Stakeholders Towards Improving Access to Justice- Training on Paralegal Services”, was held last week in Abuja in collaboration with the British Council.

The Executive Director of PRAWA and RoLAC, Dr. Uju Agomoh, explained that the training was an initiative on justice in states of the federation with main focus on the FCT, Anambra, Lagos, Adamawa and Kano.

At the end of the programme, Dr. Agomoh said participants were divided into teams like prisons, police, court, Ministry of Justice, prosecution, family link and community-based sensitisation.

The programme was used to highlight access to justice interventions and achievements by LACON from 2012 to 2018.
