Lady arraigned over theft

A 30 year old lady, Husaina Musa, has been arraigned before court 25 Magistrate court in Gyadi-Gyadi for alleged house breaking and theft.

On two separate occasions, the accused was alleged to have trespassed into the houses of her victims and carted away their belongings worth millions of naira.

On the first occasion, as indicated by the First Information Report (FIR), the accused broke in to the house of one Ibrahim Auwal of Medile quarters in Kumbotso Local Government on 15/01/2019, around 2pm and stole away wrappers worth N600,000 and the sum of N1.5m in cash, the total value of which was N2.1m.

On the second occasion, the accused used a jam lock key and opened the house of one Isma’ila Muhammad Abubakar also of Medile quarters and stole different items and cash in different currencies worth over N1m.

Some of the items, as contained in the FIR, include a plasma TV, a DVD, gold chain and earrings, 27 sets of cloth, wrappers and US dollars as well as Saudi Riyals in currency, among others.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sanusi Muhammad, told the court that the accused has committed offences contrary to sections 148 and 149 of Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) as well as section 287 of the Penal Code and therefore charged for the said offences.

After reading the content of the FIR, the accused denied committing the offences and pleaded not guilty.
The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Abdu Maiwada Abubakar, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter to 2nd April, 2019, for further mention.
