Lady Ekwe takes tour of musical performances

Female percussionist, Anu, otherwise known as ‘Lady Ekwe’ has rolled plans to reach her global fans with a number of stage performances in selected countries in Africa and Europe.
In a statement made available to Daily Trust Saturday by her publicist, Andrew Okungbowa, Lady Ekwe is set to deliver her known “energetic performances and deftness on the traditional instrument to deliver excitement to her growing audience blends perfectly her velvety voice.”
According to the statement, Anu who has been enjoying rave reviews on the musical scene in recent times based on her promotion of the African musical sound and instrument is set to perform at the Made in Nigeria Exhibition holding in Abidjan, Cote d’ Voire on September 5.
The singer is billed to perform in Addis Ababa at an event expected to be the reception for dignitaries attending the African Fashion show later in the month.
Anu, who is the former Sisi Oge Beauty Queen, is also listed to play her sensational act on the Paris stage as one of the guest artistes in October for a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) fashion show event in partnership with the legendary Gold for African Fashion,” a part of the statement read.
An Economics graduate from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the lady singer is reputed to have broken the jinx as the first known female artiste to make a career of singing and playing ekwe from South-Eastern Nigeria, an act dominated by male performers.
She has in recent times appeared in a number of events across the country and was one of the star performers at the debutant Nigerian Drum festival where she held the audience spellbound with her awesome and enthralling performance as she perfectly combined her percussionist skill with her singing and theatrics prowess.
