Lafia’s two dual carriage ways near completion

The road which begins from Lubona Junction off Makurdi Road, to Lafia-East Primary School through Lafia Modern Market, in the Lafia East section of the metropolis, has opened up the area, creating access to an area which remained barely accessible for the better part of the 17 years of the existence of Lafia as a state capital.
“The contractor, Triacta Construction has just completed one of the two first dual carriages Lafia will ever get from the state government. This project is close to the heart of the governor (Umaru Tanko Al-Makura) because it will create access to the commercial nerve centres of the metropolis,” Adamu Sule, Managing Director of the state Urban Development Board (NUDB) said.
The second road is running from Post Office Junction along Makurdi Road through the Timber Market, to Railway, in the UAC section of the metropolis.
“These are coming as part of the second phase implementation of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s big dream to give his people a liveable and sustainable city; to make Lafia the state capital it is. The administration, recall, has put several kilometers of good network of roads running through much of the sections of the metropolis, in the first phase of the implementation of this project which most people prefer to call Project Shovel. It is designed to make anyone who left Lafia in 2011, and will have to visit for the first time in two years, feel they are visiting a different city,” Sonny Agassi, the state Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development said.
He said the roads were embarked upon after compensation was paid to property owners in those parts of the metropolis. He said the roads were embarked upon to open up and ease traffic congestion in the two commercial areas of the metropolis.
