Heartland will take on this year’s CAF Challenge Cup semi-finalists, Enyimba FC of Aba, in the final of the 66th edition of the competition billed for the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Enyimba has won the competition twice with the last in 2009, while Heartland has won once in 1988, then as Iwuanyanwu Nationale FC. The 2010 edition was won by Kaduna United FC.
The fans told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that they preferred Heartland to win because Enyimba seemed to have more exposure, hence better prepared.
Taofeek Animashaun, a businessman, told NAN: “ I expect Heartland to win the match although it would be a Herculean task.
“I must say that Enyimba is the more exposed side in terms of participating in tournaments of this nature and international meets’’.
Joseph Gbadebo, a civil servant, said: “I wish Heartland the best but can only wait for the match to be over as both teams will definitely entertain fans while the match lasted’’.
He added that he was supporting Heartland because his friend plays for the team.
Blessing Daniel, a footballer, told NAN that he was supporting Heartland because it was his club.
“I want Heartland to win because it will boost their strength as a team and status among clubs in Nigeria,’’ Daniel said. (NAN
