Lagos-based gymnastics clubs dominated the 2025 GYMFEST championship, claiming the top three positions in a thrilling display of skill and athleticism. The event featured 182 gymnasts competing across pre-level to level 7 categories, representing fifteen clubs from Lagos, Abuja, and Benin.
Tee Tumblers Gymnastics Club emerged as the overall champion, capturing a total of 61 medals: 33 gold, 19 silver, and 9 bronze. Kofunjo Gymnastics Club followed in second place with 22 medals, including 9 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze, while Mayrock Gymnastics Club rounded out the podium with 18 medals — 8 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze.
Eight-year-old Mojolaoluwa Adeoye of Tee Tumblers, the gold medalist in the floor event (level 4) and overall winner in her category, described the championship as a major confidence booster. “It has also strengthened my bond with my family,” she said, adding that the competition helped her make new friends and develop valuable skills.
Tee Tumblers founder Yoyin Akpose hailed the championship as a milestone for gymnastics in Nigeria. “The journey has just begun, and the future of gymnastics in Nigeria is surely bright. As we look ahead to a new season, I’m excited about how we can continue to create more awareness and spread the undeniable benefits of gymnastics to even more children and families,” she said.
Oluremi Jemitola, co-organiser of GYMFEST 2.0, emphasized the significance of gymnastics for young people’s mental and physical development. “Our children demonstrated through this competition their mental and physical capabilities — flexibility, focus, and the aspiration to excel and succeed. Parents witnessed firsthand their children’s development, proving that sport is an essential step toward a balanced and successful life,” she added.
The 2025 GYMFEST championship showcased the growing talent in Nigerian gymnastics and highlighted Lagos as the hub of excellence in the sport.
