The Lagos State Ministry of Education has condemned comments credited to Prince Mohammed Mansur Williams, the proprietor of First Islamic English Foundation Academy Lagos, questioning the quality of education delivery in the country with particular reference to Lagos State.
Williams had said in an interview that most private schools were mere recreational centers and most proprietors incompetent.
 “We are here today because ministries of education at all levels have completely failed in Nigeria. Most of the staff of those ministries are the owners of majority of private schools,” he said.
Reacting, Mr. Adesegun Ogundeji, the acting director public affairs, Ministry of Education, in a press statement said the comment was meant to discredit the state ministry of education.
“That statement to the best of my understanding shows that from all intent and purposes it was deliberately made to cast aspersion on the image of the ministry, impugn her integrity as the regulatory and supervisory authority while disparaging the work force,” he said.
