The Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adegoke Fayoade, has met with school principals in riverine communities in the state on how to improve security in and around their premises.

It was gathered that the meeting might not be unconnected with the growing cases of youths’ involvement in social vices like cultism and other violent crimes.

At the meeting, the CP highlighted efforts which the command had made to check insecurity around schools in the riverine communities.

He said, “There is no gainsaying that the youths are the future of a nation. We must protect them with all our resources.

“Bring those who are now involved in social vices for counselling while also ensuring that students are not allowed to wander around during school hours.”

The command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, on his X handle, said the meeting was to ensure the provision of adequate security around school premises, particularly in riverine communities.
