Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended Origin Tech Group for the pace of work at the Mid-Level Agro-Food Hub in Abijo, Sangotedo, Eti-Osa, describing it as a key step in the state’s plan to decentralise food distribution.

The governor, who toured the 23,000-square-metre facility alongside the company’s Executive Chairman, Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, said the hub would provide modern storage facilities, trading floors, and parking to ensure easier access to fresh food for residents along the corridor.

“This hub will make it easier for Lagosians to buy fresh food close to home, reduce waste, and support our broader plan for food security,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Prince Samuel revealed that similar hubs are underway in Agege, Lagos Island, Oregun, and Ikorodu, while more are planned for Epe and Badagry. All hubs will connect to a central logistics hub in Ketu-Ereyun, which will serve as the backbone of Lagos’ food distribution network.

Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, during the inspection.

The tour follows the recent launch of the N500 billion Produce for Lagos initiative, part of the Lagos Agricultural Roadmap (2021) aimed at achieving food sovereignty and cutting post-harvest losses.
