Oladeinde explained that the Terminal 1 would be the hub for inter-state transportation, adding that 21 ticketing booths had been created for 21 destinations spanning the entire southwest, southeast, Abuja and the northern states.

The Commissioner, represented by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State governor on Transportation, Mr Oluwatoyin Fayinka, said the interchange was the first of its kind in Nigeria,

The Managing Director, Ibile Holdings, Mr Abiodun Amokomowo, also described the project as “phenomenal”, while commending the contractor for delivering “a world-class project in record time of less than three years to the people of Lagos.”

The Managing Director, Planet Project, Biodun Otunola, said the uniqueness of the interchange was that passengers could access it from any of the locations in Lagos, saying it would cater for about 50,000 passengers daily.

Otunola disclosed that as a sign of the warm reception of the facility by commuters, no less than 100 buses had loaded inter-state passengers by mid-day yesterday.

He said, “We are resolutely committed to providing first-class passenger comfort in this terminal.

“We are determined to make this place a reference point and a tourist arena.

“We are assuring every passenger of premium safety.

“We will not scale down on the comfort and security of anyone who patronises our terminals.”
