Lagos Gov’t seals Dowen College over waste disposal
The Lagos State Government has sealed the premises of Dowen College in Lekki Phase 1 over alleged indiscriminate waste disposal, an offence described as a violation of the state environmental law.
The school, currently on holiday, was sealed on Wednesday by the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps in collaboration with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab in a tweet shared on his ‘X’ page, described the alleged breach of laws as unacceptable.
“Such disregard for environmental laws is unacceptable. Corps Marshall of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has been directed to proceed with sealing the premises.
“We will not hesitate to take firm action against any institution or organisation that violates our waste management regulations.
“Lagos must remain clean, safe and healthy for all residents, and enforcement will continue without compromise,” the post read.
