Lagos govt vows to tackle planning laws violation

Lagos State government has vowed to enforce Physical Planning and Urban Development laws in the state  to stem the tide of unwholesome practices in the building industry.
Commissioner for Physical Planning, Urban Development, Mr Wasiu Anifowoshe, gave this indication at the stakeholders’ meeting organised by the state’s Physical Planning Permit Agency (LASPPPA) with the theme Keying into the Benefits of City Development for Urban Sustainability.
Anifowoshe urged the people to always build their structures in accordance with approved building plan so as to avoid disorderliness and haphazard development in the communities.
He said the state as a fast growing megacity is poised to ensure livable and sustainable environment through constructive engagement of all stakeholders.
The General Manager of the Physical Planning Permit Authority, Mr Toyin Abdul, convener of the stakeholders’ meeting said the essence of the parley was to deliberate on physical planning and development issues, with a view to obtaining feedback from the stakeholders through interactive session.
Abdul who charged residents in the state to embrace building  in conformity with physical development plans laws and regulations noted that  government will soon unfold its ways to expedite development permit in the state.
He said 20 District Offices were created across the state to ensure easy retrieval of the development plan and the agency is working out a software code known as LASPPPA Soft, aimed at detailed recording of development permit.
