Lagos health commissioner Akin Abayomi has recovered from Covid-19 after testing negative for the virus, the state government has announced.

Abayomi, also deputy incident commander for Covid-19 in Lagos, tested positive on August 24.

Information and strategy commissioner Gbenga Omotoso issued a statement on Monday saying Abayomi took the test on Sunday evening after mandatory isolation for Covid-19.

“Professor Abayomi is very grateful and humbled by the deep concern shown and expressed by Executive Council members, civil servants, Lagos residents, Nigerians, both locally and in the diaspora, through prayers, messages, phone calls and gifts. He will be returning to his full duties gradually and remains resolute in delivering the mandate of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,” the statement reads.
