Islamic leaders under the aegis of Council of Imams and Ulamas in Lagos State have declared their readiness to adopt a unified sermon otherwise known as “Juma’at Khutba” in their respective mosques on Fridays.

The President, Council of Imams and Ulama in the Lagos State and Lagos Chief Imam,  Sheikh Sulaimon Abu Nolla made the disclosure during a visit to Ikorodu Division Muslim Community and the palace of Ayangburen of IKorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi.

According to Abu Nolla, the plan to adopt unified Juma’at sermon has been in the offing for sometimes and that it aims at ensuring that Muslims who belong to different  associations operate under one big umbrella.

He added that the idea of having unified sermon is to be complimented with having a central pocket where all the mandatory poor dues (Zakat) collected in mosques would be harmonized.

“In our efforts, we want to make sure that we have a central khutba preached at different mosques in Lagos. The same khutba that will be preached in Epe should be in uniformity with the one in Lagos Island. This will foster unity among different associations we have in place today,” the Lagos Imam said.

At the Ayagburen palace, Abu Nolla advocated for peace and unity, saying efforts are also being put in place to ensure that more Islamic scholars undergo seminars that enhance their knowledge in delivering and professing their faith.
