Lagos introduces bus reforms, constructs bus terminals

The Lagos State government said it is gradually implementing all the major components of its Bus Reform Initiative to revolutionize public transportation and usher in ease of connectivity within the state.
Under the initiative, 5,000 new buses are expected to be added to the public transport system to aid Lagos residents to plan their journeys.
A statement yesterday from the state government disclosed that other features of the scheme like modern bus terminals, bus depots, bus stops and segregated lay-bys, were already springing up in strategic locations across the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Dr Taiwo Salaam, said that apart from going a long way to ensure that transport activities were conducted in a safe and comfortable environment, the modern bus stops would also ensure a free flow of traffic as there would no longer be any disruption to vehicular movement.
