The Lagos State Sports Commission has announced plans to conduct the 2026 Swimming trials scheduled to be held at the Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba on March 22, 2026.
The events lined up for swimmers who are below 16 years old include 100m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 4x50m Mixed Freestyle Relay, and the 4x50m Mixed Medley Relay.
According to the Director General, Lekan Fatodu, the trials reflect the commission’s focus on building a strong foundation for sports development through structured competitions and consistent athlete identification.
He noted that Lagos remains committed to nurturing young talents and creating opportunities that allow promising athletes to grow within a well-organised sporting system.
“These trials go beyond a selection process. They reflect our commitment to discovering and nurturing young talents who will carry the banner of Lagos with pride in national and international competitions.
“Through structured programmes like this, we continue to build a pathway that allows our young athletes to develop their abilities and compete at the highest level,” he said.
