Lagos police arrest 4 suspected killers of APC bigwig in Festac

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emmanuel Uba (aka Onwa).

The deceased was killed in his car at FESTAC Town, Lagos in July. The Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT)’s investigation led to the arrest of one Fatai (aka Apashe) the leader of a local vigilante group.

His confessional led to the arrest of three other suspects  – Fashola, Tokosi (aka TK) and Adeleye (aka Baido).

Apashe, who was paraded at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said “I contracted Fashola to get me some people to deal with Onwa because he was becoming too popular in FESTAC.

I am a leader of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in my area and I am controlling many people, so also was Onwa. We were rivals. We used to have confrontations. Recently, I was shot in the mouth and my chest. I don’t know the people that shot me but I suspected that they were Onwa’s boys. I used to arrest criminals and hand them over to the police but few days later, they would be released and I thought that Onwa was responsible for the release of the suspects to spite me.

“So I now decided to cajole him with my boys. We went to meet Onwa in his car. He was with his friend who gave us information on where to meet them. It was while we were arguing that Fashola shot him,” he said.

Fashola told journalists that he fired the shot that killed Onwa.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspects, said one Beretta Pistol, two live ammunitions and one pump action gun were recovered from the suspects.

He said the suspects would soon be charged for armed robbery, murder and other related offences.
