The Lagos State Police Command on Monday said it arrested 2,170 criminals within the metropolis between January and March 2021.

It also said it recovered a total of 235 assorted guns from different criminal gangs.

It said cultism suspects top the list of those arrested in the period under review.

Commissioner of Police in the state Hakeem Odumosu disclosed this at a press conference held on Monday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.

Odumosu, while giving a breakdown of the crime statistics of the command in the last three months, said 234 armed robbery suspects and 343 cultism suspects were arrested.

He said 91 murder cases were also recorded by the command.

He said 265 different calibre of ammunition and 31 stolen vehicles were also recovered.

“Officers and men of the command also foiled 75 armed robbery cases while 31 vehicles were stolen from different areas.

“The command also recorded 91 rape cases and 127 gender-based issues while 532 persons were nabbed for various traffic offences,” he added.

Odumosu who vowed to smoke criminals from their hideouts said 2,953 commercial motorcycles were impounded for violating the state traffic laws, adding that 3,258 cases were charged to court.
