The Lagos State police command has arrested six persons suspected to be involved in the scooping of fuel from a vandalized pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at Fagbile Estate, Isheri-Ijegun Lagos.

Spokesman of the command, SP Chike Oti said the suspects were arrested following the news making round on the social media that some people were scooping fuel at the leaked NNPC facility.

Oti in a statement said, “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the social media that there were people scooping fuel from vandalised NNPC Pipeline at Fagbile Estate Isheri-Ijegun Lagos.

“The Command wishes to state that before the news went viral on the social media, it had already drawn the attention of the NNPC officials, the Fire service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC)  who went there and brought the situation under control.

“The Command also arrested six suspected pipeline vandals at 0130 hours of today being 6th April, 2018, at the scene”.

He gave the names of the suspects to include Jimoh Shola (23 years),  Wasiu Adebayo (25 years), Sanni Shago,  Alamu Garuba (22 years), Jonathan Okiki (35 years) and Taoreed Saula (33 years). 

“The suspects were arrested by the Command’s undercover operatives attached to Area M- Idimu. They are currently undergoing interrogation at the Command’s Headquarters Ikeja and would be charged to court at conclusion of the investigation”, he said.
