Some prominent members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Lagos Saturday pleaded with residents of Lagos to endure the current economic crisis, saying the problem will soon be over.

They said the federal government is doing everything possible to alleviate the plights of citizens.

The party leaders spoke during the social intervention programme organised by Senator Idiat Adebule representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The senator who doled out 10,000 food items to residents across the Local Governments (LGs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) said the distribution of the items is aimed at mitigating the hardship in the land.

She however stated that the current cost of living crisis was not peculiar to Nigeria but a global phenomenon which would soon be over.

“As we grapple with the fallouts of the ongoing economic reforms, we must acknowledge that the cost of living crisis is a global phenomenon and not peculiar to Nigeria.

“However, the inconvenient sacrifices we are making today to build a more resilient economy is for a better, brighter, and more bountiful tomorrow.

“Meanwhile, as your Senator, my primary duties are to propose laws that will help us achieve our goals, represent the interest of my constituents, and oversee the executive arm of government to ensure better service delivery,” she said.

Also, the Lagos state party chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, called for the citizens’ patience, saying the president is not resting on his oars to ensure ongoing economic reforms translated into improved living standard for the people.

“She has come to feel the pulse of the people she is representing. This she has done out of passion remembering the daughter of who she is.

“This you have done for the good people of the west senatorial District. On behalf of the president, thank you all for your perseverance and be sure that what we are passing through will become a thing of the past,” he said.

He urged residents to register for National Identity Number (NIN), saying that they require their number to benefit from subsequent distribution.
