The said amount was approved by the lawmakers to host the youth soccer championship in the State which was one of the centres that hosted matches of the 2009 FIFA U-17 Championship and going by the manner in which the amount was expended, the law makers are threatening to summon those involved in the N3b saga.

Trustsports findings at the State Ministry of Sports, Alausa, Ikeja show that the atmosphere at the ministry is calm despite the lawmakers attempt to probe the Commissioner Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele and his top aides who were involved in the organization of the event.

According to a top government official in the ministry who prefers anonymity, the probe is a welcome development in which and the ministry is ready to express its own side of the story at the Assembly floor whenever the lawmakers want to carry out the probe.

He hinted that this is not the first time that the commissioner would be involved in a bigger event like this, but at the end always faced charges which range from embezzlement, mismanagement of funds and more only to be discharged and acquitted at the end of every exercise.

“As far as the lawmakers are setting up panel to probe how the sum of N3b approved for the hosting of the championship in the State, we are solidly behind them in their quest to clear all doubts  and on our part we are ready to give account of our stewardship when the time comes,”

“On several occasions, my commissioner, Prince Adele has been summoned by the lawmakers on various charges he knew nothing about just as this proposed probe by them, at the end they did not find any fault on him.

“Let them go ahead and set the ball rolling and we shall say our part of the story to the whole congregation which comprises of the media, good citizens of the State and others stakeholders in who would be in attendance. Anybody found guilty should face the music, as far as I am concerned, we are clean and clear of all charges that they might bring against us,” he opined.
