Organisers of the Lagos Theatre Festival (LTF), have announced a lineup of events for this year’s edition. The event themed ‘Imagine the Unimaginable,’ is scheduled to hold from April 8 to 14 in different venues across Lagos.

According to a statement by the organisers, the festival is expected to showcase over 140 shows in seven days. These will include theatre performances and events, which will take place in locations including Freedom Park which is the main hub of the festival, the British Council, MUSON Centre, Terra Kulture Arena and Bariga Market, among others.

Rehearsals are in full swing, as participating production companies and individuals are ensuring they all have their best foot forward to fully entertain and engage their audiences.

The Festival Director, Sola Oyebade quoted in the statement, said, “This year’s programme is designed to ensure that the festival offers unforgettable experiences to everyone that will be attending.”

Oyebade added that, “Despite having moved the dates due to the elections, we are all excited in anticipation of the outcome of this year’s edition.”

The festival was conceived and launched in 2013 by the British Council in response to their inspiration to provide a platform for theatre makers in Nigeria, to develop audiences for theatre productions and to produce theatre works in unconventional spaces.

The 5th edition of the theatre fiesta took place in February 2018. It featured over 110 events, with remarkable audience attendance of workshops and shows at the various venues during the six-day period of the festival.
