The Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Prince Gbolahan Lawal gave the advice while declaring the programme closed at the Agriculture Training Institute, Araga, in Epe division of the state.
He said the state government through the agricultural summer programme has decided to broaden the minds of students and stimulate their interest through intensive agricultural programmes, adding that the government has trained a total of 180 students in the last three years.
He described the programme as laudable and a step towards achieving the noble objective of engaging the youth and empowering them through agriculture, saying this year’s participants have been equipped with essential rudiments of farming which will enable them to contribute to the overall development of the agriculture sector in no distant future.
He also said that the students were exposed to site experience during their visit to the piggery estate at Erikorodo, the Eko rice mill at Imota, and the rice plantation field at Itoikin among others.
