The two-day championship which took place at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Gateway International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, was jointly organized by the South/West Judo Council and the National Sports Commission (NSC).

Lagos State won the championship by harvesting 14 gold, five sliver and two bronze medalas, leaving the host, Ogun State to take the second spot with seven gold, four silver and one bronze.

Ondo State won six gold, three silver and two bronze medals to come third, while Ekiti State picked two gold, one silver and two bronze medals to condemn Oyo State to the bottom with just a gold and silver.

The Most Valuable Player of the tournament (MVP) went to a 10-year-old Taiwo Aremu from Ogun State, while Opeyemi Owolabi from Ogun State received the female MVP award for her superlative performance.

The initiator of the tournament, Dr. Musa Oshodi, was praised by many participants and the South/West Judo Council for his efforts at bringing the entire South/West together through judo.
