Lagosians walk against hunger to celebrate World Food Day

As part of activities to mark the World Food Day on Sunday, the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture has organised a fitness walk against hunger to sensitise the public about food security.
During the walk, which featured hundreds of Lagos residents from Ikeja Local Government secretariat to the agric ministry’s block in Alausa, Ikeja, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Toyin Suarau, implored other states of the federation and the federal government to join in the celebration of the World Food Day to further encourage stakeholders and potential farmers.
Suarau stated that there were a lot of investment opportunities in agriculture, calling on investors to invest in various value chains, such as poultry, aqua culture, vegetable, rice, red meat, coconut, piggery and others.
Other activities lined up for the 2016 World Food Day in the state include farmers/fishers’ folks forum, school quiz competition and other developmental activities.
The 2016 World Food Day has its theme as “Climate is Changing: Food and Agriculture Must too.”
