In a bid to improve the response time to all forms of emergencies in the state, the Lagos State government is set to commission the LASEMA Response Unit at the Fadeyi Bus Stop, Ikorodu Road.

 This unit, the state government said, would serve people residing along the axis and its environs.

 The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, disclosed this yesterday at the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

“The Akinwunmi Ambode administration is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and properties of Lagosians through creation of additional response units in strategic locations in the state towards sustained intervention to all forms of emergencies/disasters,” he said.

 He further stated that the unit, which has just been completed and equipped, would be commissioned on Wednesday December 20, 2017 by Gov Ambode and would serve as a dispatch centre where personnel and equipment would be deployed from time to time to respond to distress calls, thereby adding values to the lives of residents of the state.

The new Dispatch Centre on Ikorodu Road will complement the existing dispatch points at the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, LASEMA Response Unit at Oshodi and the recently commissioned LASEMA Response Unit located at Lekki, by the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

 Efforts are on-going to create more centres in other parts of the state, thereby reducing the response time to incidents.

 Tiamiyu expressed the need for members of the public to partner with the Lagos State government in mitigating and preventing hazards by ensuring that distress calls on identified hazards were quickly relayed to relevant responders or stakeholders through the emergency toll free line 112/767 with a view to making the state a safe haven for Lagos residents and investors.
