The government has offered to pay financial compensation running over N11 million with additional five acres of land in another part of the state capital, Calabar to the sect which has a teeming membership.
Four months ago, following destruction seizure of the land said to belong to the sect, by the government, despite a court verdict, the spiritual organisation returned to court and threatened to invite out hundreds of thousands of its members to occupy Cross River State Government House.
Official representative of the religious leader in the state, Pastor Mike Ntuk confirmed that government has now sent a delegation to meet with His Holiness Obu as a way of reaching an agreement over the disputed land and withdrawal of the case from court.
“The state government has sent a delegation to meet with our Father over the land near the stadium. It was a useful meeting.
“The government pleaded that they intend to use the land which is situated in a prime area of town for the general good of the people.
“The government offered alternative land up to five acres as compensation in addition to financial support for the property destroyed when they forcibly entered our land,” Pastor Ntuk explained.
