A Lagos landlord, Ajasa Ade and two others said to be his friends have been remanded in a correctional facility on the orders of a Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ogba, for allegedly ejecting a tenant using a fake court judgement also known as ‘Jankara order’.
The 52-year-old landlord had allegedly sought help from two of his friends, Amos and Omotayo, to eject a female tenant, Awawu, over an undisclosed offence.

The accused and his friends were alleged to have written a fake settlement purportedly written by the presiding magistrate with which they ejected the tenant from her apartment.
The matter, which is before the court with file number MIK/38/19/2021, borders around reclaiming an apartment which the tenant occupies.
The tenant later approached the police when she suspected that the terms of settlement presented to her were fake. The landlord, according to her, was in haste to rent out the said apartment to another person.
The police were said to have moved in swiftly and in the course of investigation, discovered that the terms of the judgment they presented were fake.
Consequently, the landlord was arrested and he later led the police to arrest his friends.
During interrogation, they reportedly claimed that it was a valid judgment from a court, unknown to them that the police had already investigated and gotten the facts, which were shown to them as evidence.
They were subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment if they are found guilty.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, had no objection to their granted bail but asked the court to give a date for hearing to enable the police to prove that they actually committed the offence alleged.
The presiding magistrate, Mr M. A. Adegbaye, granted them bail with sureties and ordered their remand in a correctional centre pending when they would perfect their bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till June 16, 2022, for mention.
