The police in Ogun State have arrested a landlord, Sunday Omosule, for allegedly killing his tenant’s four-year-old son.
The suspect who is the owner of House 23, Adeoye Street, Oko Baale Onipanu, was arrested following a distress call.
It was gathered that based on the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer at Onipanu Division and his men raced to the scene where they saw the body of the deceased.
It was learnt that at the scene, the DPO discovered that the landlord had gone berserk and using a mortal pestle with which to chase his tenants round the house.
It was gathered that the suspect used the said pestle to hit the mother of the deceased on the hand before using it to hit the victim also on the head.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, Abimbola Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said the DPO, SP Sangobiyi Johnson, who led his men to the scene, arrested the suspect.
He said during interrogation, the suspect claimed to be under spiritual attack which always made him to behave erratically sometimes.
The DPO said: “The mother of the deceased who also sustained injury has been taken to hospital where she is responding to treatment, while the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the state hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
He said that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.
