In Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, accreditation of voters commenced at 8:00 am in most polling units, just as a large turnout of voters was witnessed.
At polling unit 002, Balogun Fulani Ward 3 in Ilorin-South Local Government Area, where Rep Ali Ahmad (APC, Ilorin East/South federal constituency) did his accreditation at 9: 00 a.m, voters were enthusiastic to perform their civic duty.
More than 300 prospective voters had been accredited as at 9:00 a.m The accreditation started at exactly 8 o clock. Ahmad described the exercise, especially the turnout of voters as encouraging, saying Nigerians are now
more conscious of their duty and responsibility.
However, the card reader did not work in one of the four polling units at the ward and it was returned to the INEC office for replacement.
Report of malfunctioning of card readers was not only from Ilorin-South.
The same problem was experienced at some polling centres in Ilorin West Local Government.
