The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe and visually appealing environment across Lagos, following an oversight visit by members of the House Committee on Environment from the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The delegation, led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Shabi Rasheed Adekola, visited LASAA’s headquarters as part of its statutory oversight duties to assess the agency’s performance, compliance, and contribution to environmental management in the state.

During the interactive session, LASAA’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Prince Fatiu Akiolu, welcomed the lawmakers and expressed appreciation for their continued support and guidance. He said the agency remained resolute in upholding best practices in outdoor advertising regulation while ensuring that Lagos maintains its reputation as an orderly and attractive megacity.

“We are deeply committed to upholding best practices in outdoor advertising regulation,” Akiolu said. “LASAA’s mission is to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of Lagos State’s visual environment, a goal we pursue rigorously for the benefit of all residents and visitors.”

He briefed the lawmakers on the agency’s operations, ongoing projects and regulatory measures designed to enhance public safety and ensure compliance across the signage and outdoor advertising sector.

In his response, Hon. Adekola commended LASAA for its operational efficiency and its efforts in keeping Lagos cleaner and safer through effective signage control. He described the agency’s performance under Akiolu’s leadership as impressive, noting that its work aligns closely with the THEMES Plus agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“We recognise LASAA’s vital role in keeping Lagos clean and safe,” Adekola said. “This partnership between the legislature and government agencies is essential for ensuring service delivery and accountability that align perfectly with the agenda of Governor Sanwo-Olu.”

The lawmaker also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the legislature and government agencies to strengthen service delivery and public confidence. He urged LASAA to intensify public sensitization efforts so that residents better understand the agency’s core mandate and comply with its regulations.

According to him, improved awareness will not only ensure orderliness in the city’s advertising space but also enhance revenue generation for the state. He further stressed the need for LASAA to reassure Lagosians about the safety and structural integrity of outdoor advertising installations across the state.

The visit ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing readiness to deepen collaboration aimed at promoting transparency, innovation and accountability in public service.
