The Lagos State University (LASU) Alumni Association says it would synergise with various stakeholders to provide infrastructure for the institution and nation at large.

The President of the Alumni, Major-General (Dr.) Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), made the remark in Abuja yesterday at a press briefing ahead of its first international convention. The theme of the convention is: “Imperative of Infrastructure Development in Nigerian Universities: The Yawning Gap in Infrastructure and Need for Focused Intervention.”

He said their members were in top positions in various sectors and would bring their expertise to provide the needed infrastructure. The president added that the association had established a research grant for lecturers of the university to improve their capacity and depth.

According to him, LASU has ranked well among universities in Nigeria and the association will ensure that it becomes the best in the country. The convention which will feature awards presentation, will draw alumni from branches across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Ireland among others.
