The Lagos State University (LASU),has sought collaboration with Ford Foundation in the area of scholarship, community service and training.
Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Lanre Fagbohun ,who made this request at a public lecture to commemorate the 2016 World Press Freedom Day,said the development was necessary in order to promote culture of learning in the institution.
The guest speaker, Dr. Paul Nwulu, in his lecture entitled “Contemporary issues of
Press freedom in the Digital Age”, decried the lack of objectivity, truthfulness and
fairness in contemporary news reportage.
He identified poor remuneration and ownership structure among various barriers confronting journalism practice in Nigeria.
Dean, School of Communication, Dr Rotimi Williams Olatunji ,in his remarks urged journalists to always uphold and promote objectivity, balance, truthfulness and fairness in their news reports.
Meanwhile the institution has inaugurated Campus Recreation and Sport Advisory Committee chaired by Prof. Fasan.
The committee comprised of Mrs. I.O Yussuf as the Vice Chairman while Drs. S.l Akintola, Moronfolu, Ademola Ademeso, Adefuye and Eletu are members. Other members of the committee include Messers Ajala A.A, Fatai A.S, Ojikutu, Owoyemi I.O, Isiaka S.A, Suleiman Hassan and a student representative from Lagos State University Students’ Union.
