In a letter titled: “Save-Our –Soul” sent to the House of Assembly, the part-time students of 2005/2006 academic session explained that they graduated during the 2008/2009 academic session but their certificates were withheld by the management of the university for four years now.
The aggrieved students said they needed the certificates to enable them secure gainful employment and also aid workers among them to gain promotion in their places of work.
“We have taken several steps, both individually and collectively, to get these results but the effort proved abortive,” the letter said.
Meanwhile, the assembly has instituted probe into the alleged case of the non-issuance of degree certificates by the LASU.
The House has directed its Committee on Education, Science and Technology, headed by Alhaji Wahaab Alawiye-King, to investigate the matter.
The committee was also directed to investigate the case of unpaid 18 months salaries of the members of the Lagos State College of Education academic staff union.
The committee was given two weeks to report back to the House.
