Governor Dauda Lawal has paid a solidarity visit to former Zamfara governor and senator, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
A statement by Yari’s media aide, Al-Mansoor Gusau, said the two leaders also broke their Ramadan fast together after the Maghrib prayer.
The governor also visited Yari’s mother, Hajiya Maimuna Abubakar Yari, popularly known as “Umma,” to seek parental blessings.
Meanwhile, several loyalists of the governor have reportedly begun registering with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their respective wards.

Among those said to have registered are the deputy governor, Mani Mummuni; the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada; and the chief of staff, Mukhtar Lugga.
The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government and ALGON public relations officer, Yahaya Abubakar Yari, said council chairmen across the state had pledged support for the governor’s new political move.
“We all joined Governor Lawal in APC and will mobilise support at the grassroots,” he said.
Political stakeholders within the party also welcomed the governor’s return to the APC.
